I was curious. I'd heard things. So I decided to check it out. What I provided to ChatGPT was this: Write a 250-word blog entry about moving from Portland, Oregon to Utah, where I’m looking for work and I’m happy. It's sunny here and the snow in the mountains started Oct 1st. People are nice, … Continue reading I Did Not Write This Entry

Portland, as surprising as it may seem to some, was just named the coolest city in North America by Betway Insider, an "editorial blog featuring sporting insight, intelligent comment and informed betting tips". I'm not so certain how a site such as Betway determined to write said article about the coolness factor of specified cities … Continue reading Stupid is as Stupid Does

Yeah, yeah, I know all the adages about curiosity - some complete with dire warnings. Contrarily, I've heard that inquisitiveness has the ability to conquer fear more eaisly than even bravery - which makes sense in a Orwellian sort of way. I mean, come on, we've seen all the films where bravado is borne from … Continue reading Color Me Curious

And so, after six weeks in PDX, I've come back to Utah for a spell. And I gotta say: This place? Is achingly beautiful. If you know me at all, you get my super sappy side, - incongruient with the two-faced trucker piece of me, but, hey, that's just how we Geminis roll. So today? Yeah, I … Continue reading Later, Baby

I think I figured it all out. The big shebang, the whole tamale, what it's all about. And it sort of doesn't require anyone any longer. And, in fact, now that I get it, I may as well get the whole game over with. Me. It's about me. I'm the gamer. I'm the problem. I'm … Continue reading Okay, Don’t Freak Out, but….

Ohhhhh, I'm seeing a pattern. An ugly pattern. I'm not talking giant white and orange daisies on a brown double-knit polyester jumper - although I think that's probably back in style, what do I know? No, I'm talking about a pattern I attended to earlier in the year, one that affected me pretty much every … Continue reading The Big Ugly

A dozen or so years ago, my 17-year-old son Logan, comfortably settled an Eastern box turtle into a cozy spot in our home while I was out of town. The reptile, named Saturn, was a shut-in pet, having existed - happily? - inside a 24-gallon tank for the entirety of its life, which we determined … Continue reading My Androgynous Warrior Princess

Slinging drinks makes one privy to many a sordid and often hilarious conversation that goes on barside. And while behind the timber, we learn to keep our ears perked and our mouths shut for the most part, this ain't no high collar place. As point of fact, the Cheers-esque environment where I collect my dollas, … Continue reading Beware the Plunging Motion

I'm sitting at a bar feeling shitty, lamenting about the hows and whats of my very privileged future, worrying over very solvable puzzles, and being very, very "first world", as it were. I mean, come on, relative to most of the world? Pshhhh. But, in spite of this admission, I digress. Here I sit, reading … Continue reading TING, Unicorn

I am a life hack nerd. The cool tricks and tips I've learned for daily tasks are indispensable wisdom - some that offer the layman a new way of looking at things, some that offer a step-by-step guide to solvency. And some? In one, out the other, and away on a cloud of ignorance. By … Continue reading Ounces to Ounces, Dust to Dust
